About the event
Every New Moon provides a time to turn inward, to journal, to listen, to let all the ideas and dreams and visions you have take inception. The seeds that are being planted in your mind, your heart, your body might only be a spark, a glimpse, a subtle feeling or sensing, but it is a time to listen for the beautiful vibration. The April new moon is in tbe sign of Aries, the sign of new beginnings, spring like energy, of youth, the beginning of the rise of light. It is the home of Mars planet of strength, courage, determination, passion, and fighting and sacrifing for these new inspirations. So this new moon asks us to check in with what new ideas are worth sacrifing for? what new aspects of our life have a spark of passion & purpose behind them? What breaths life into us?
In the week of the new moon and the end of a busy work week presents an opportunity to slow down and focus on our inner experience. Yin practice is the type of practice that compliments any new moon energy and holds space for gentle exploration of mind, breath, and body:
Â
- Long (3-5 minute), passive stretches and focused breathwork unite to stretch and release joints, ligaments, and tendons.
- Supportive props and warm blankets build a cozy retreat for rest amid the soft glow of candlelight and soothing harp music.
- Minimal cues and assists provide space for meditative stillness.
This class will be accompanied by the beautiful Harp playing of Tiffsny Barber to help guide us into the space of internal reflection.
You are invited to stay after to sip on Prana House herbal tea (or take a sample home) to support you through the energy of the season & for brief astrological lesson on what area of life this new moon will emphasis for you. Bring your Birthdate, Time, and location of birth.
No prior yin experience required: a brief introduction and overview will be provided before practice begins. Come to gently launch a yoga practice, or simply build a refuge from life’s constant demands. If you find yourself drifting off to sleep in savasana, congratulations: you understood the assignment.
