We are a community that feels like home for anyone who wants to find their voice and the connection between their physical body and their spiritual essence using the principals of the 8 limb yoga practice, self love, self study, connection and playfulness.

Yoga Underground was born in 2010.

We have been sharing our love of the 8 limb path of yoga in Chadds Ford since 2012.  We wanted to create a community of like minded people and a space for each of us to grow towards our own light and love.  We are all teachers to each other and we live, breath, and practice yoga as our way of life.  We have a passion for sharing what we have learned to help you find your own path to growth and fulfillment in your life.

I discovered yoga in 2007 during a time of life transition. It quickly became a life line to saving my spiritual self through committed practice of the 8 limbs of yoga. My prior background as a chemist created a natural opportunity for me to study the mind, body, and energetic aspects of self. I found that learning to balance and honor both the energetic and physical bodies is key to living at peace in this life and I am passionate about sharing my experiences and struggles as guiding tools for others to grow and discover for themselves how to create balance in their lives.

I believe activity is essential to finding ease within the mind and the meat suit which we were born into in this lifetime.  Specifically, I found Ashtanga yoga to bring relief from pain related to scoliosis.  I emphasize precise alignment in my classes and offer students encouragement and enthusiasm  to work to their abilities.  I like to offer clear guidelines derived from the 8 limbs, which are aids in focusing attention and increasing awareness.

I first fell in love with yoga in 2012 on my journey to health and fitness. I found that yoga allows us to strengthen both body and mind and it gave me a place to unwind from the day’s stress. A few years later, I discovered aerial yoga and I’ve been hooked ever since. Aerial yoga provides support for poses that are more difficult on a mat and often allows for a deeper stretch. It’s also exciting to try new things and hang upside down. I try to bring positivity, encouragement, and fun to my classes. Come hang out with me and discover how much fun aerial yoga can be!

After completing 200hr Teacher Training, I lived,  worked, and studied at the Himalayan Institute for 2 years. I continued to study yogic philosophy, breath technique, asana, ayurveda, and mediaion with several renowned teachers. My passion for yoga as a healing art stems from my own battles dealing with depression and anxiety. It was from yoga that I found the bodies dynamic connection with the mind and how the breath is the bridge between the two. I am known for my authentic, non-judgmental teaching and compassion-centered philosophy which focuses on the breath on and off the mat.

Yoga is healing not only my body, but my mind and spirit. When I began my journey it was only a physical practice. I was so consumed in looking good, doing the posture perfect, being fit and flexible. Now, as I continue to grow and practice, I have learned yoga is so much more. Yoga has brought me awareness, brought me home to my body, to my roots, and offers light each day. I have a new opportunity, a new beginning, a new connection with my own self. Through practing the 8 limb path, I feel I am becoming whole and my the clouds are lifting my eyes.

I skipped the traditional route after high school and attended cosmetology school. Halfway through, I felt out of place and depression sank in. I felt out of tune with myself, so unaware of my emotions and disconnected from my body. I craved to touch my heart and feel it beat with soul.
I bought a mat. I took a breath.
And the passion began.
At first it was just home practice or some studio classes. But the more I moved the more I craved.
I went to a yoga retreat. I completed my 200hr training. I received a certification in aerial. And I still can’t seem to get enough.
This practice has helped me truly meet myself, blessing me with confidence. Instilling awareness of, not only my emotions, but others as well.

I came to yoga in 2007 to regain some of the flexibility I lost over the years. I was immediately hooked on aerial yoga and completed Transcend Aerial Teacher Training Level 1 & 2in 2013.  I completed Yoga for Kids in 2014 and have a special knack with kids of all ages who like to be challenged and have fun.

I enjoy a powerful hot yoga flow, contrasted by gentle yoga classes with an emphasis on deep breathing techniques to help settle the mind and bring attention to the present moment. I later fell in love with the yin yoga practice and was compelled to share this type of practice as well. Grown from my own difficult experiences, I have developed a passion for the long-term healing properties of diet, yoga, cardio combined weight lifting exercises and meditation. I love nothing more than helping others incorporate better habits and practices into their lives.
